Violon
Zsolt-Tihamér Visontay a commencé à jouer du violon en 1988 en étudiant à l’école de musique de Magdebourg, puis auprès du professeur Jost Witter au Conservatoire du Palais du Belvédère de Vienne, et à l’Académie de musique Franz Liszt à Weimar. Lauréat de plusieurs prix individuels internationaux, notamment des concours de violon Louis Spohr et Henry Marteau, Zsolt a commencé sa carrière en jouant au sein de plusieurs orchestres allemands. En 2005, il est devenu premier violon de l’Orchestre des Jeunes de l’Union Européenne, sous la direction de Vladimir Ashkenazy, Bernard Haiting and Sir Colin Davis, avant de devenir un an plus tard premier violon de l’Orchestre Philarmonique d’Altenburg-Gera. Il a été membre d’orchestres tels que l’Orchestre symphonique de Radio Berlin, l’Orchestre symphonique allemand de Berlin, l’Orchestre Philarmonique d’Hambourg, l’Orchestre symphonique de Londres, l’Académie de Saint-Martin des champs, l’Orchestre national royal écossais, l’Orchestre national de Porto, l’Orchestre symphonique de la ville de Birmingham, et l’Orchestre symphonique de Bamberg, se produisant dans toute l’Europe, en Russie, en Asie et aux Etats-Unis.
German-Hungarian violinist Zsolt-Tihamér Visontay began playing in 1988, taking lessons at the music school in Magdeburg, and went on to study under Professor Jost Witter at the Schloss Belvedere Music School and the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Weimar. Laureate of several international solo prizes, including the International Louis Spohr Violin Competition and the International Henry Marteau Violin Competition, Zsolt’s solo engagements include performing with a number of German orchestras. In 2005 he became Leader of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), performing under conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Bernard Haitink and Sir Colin Davis, and a year later he also became Concert Master of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Altenburg-Gera. He has led orchestras such as the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Hamburg Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Orchestra Nacional de Porto, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, touring throughout Europe, Russia, Asia and the US. In 2007 he became Joint Concert Master of the Philharmonia Orchestra. Since then his solo engagements with the Orchestra have included performing The Lark Ascending under both David Hill and Sir Andrew Davis. He has recorded the John Jeffreys Violin Concerto with the Philharmonia and Paul Bateman. In addition he has acted as violinist/director with the Philharmonia and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
En 2007, il est devenu Concert Master du Philharmonia Orchestra. Depuis, ses engagements personnels avec l’orchestre l’ont amené à jouer The Lark Ascending sous la direction de David Hill et Sir Andrew Devis. Son interprétation, avec Paul Bateman, du Concerto pour violon de John Jeffreys avec le Philharmonia a été enregistrée. Established as a sought-after chamber musician, he has performed and recorded Bartók’s Contrasts with Mark van de Wiel and Yefim Bronfman for Signum. The Beethoven Septet with the European Chamber Players for the Austrian Label Gramola. The Rachmaninov and Shostakovich piano trios with Mats Lidström and Vladimir Ashkenazy on Decca. Collaborating with those artists already mentioned as well as many others including Min-Jung Kym and Jamie Walton, he performs in major venues such as the Mozartsaal, Vienna; Salle Gaveau, Paris; and Wigmore Hall, London.
